Undergraduate students seeking to participate in research opportunities should begin by reviewing the research taking place in the department to determine areas of interest. Faculty profiles and group websites provide summaries of their work. The types of undergraduate research positions can be broken down as follows.
- Paid undergraduate research positions are available per faculty discretion and respective budgets. Please contact individual faculty members to inquire if positions are available.
- Academic credit through CHE 395. These arrangements (i.e. contracts) are made through the Director of Undergraduate Studies but must be initially arranged with a faculty member.
- Research as a volunteer. Please visit this page for more details. As with the other options, prior arrangements must be made with a faculty member.
More information about undergraduate research taking place at the University of Kentucky can be found through the Office of Undergraduate Research.
