Join us for a presentation and conversation with Lea Whitehurst Gibson a community organizer with 20 years of experience equipping communities with sustainable tools and resources so they can build and maintain positive community change.

Lea Whitehurst Gibson is the Founder and CEO of Virginia Community Voice, a 501c3 nonprofit located in Richmond, Virginia. Virginia Community Voice’s mission is to equip neighbors in historically marginalized communities to realize their vision for their neighborhoods and prepare institutions to respond effectively. Lea is a seasoned community organizer who trains institutions in equity-driven community engagement that ultimately centers the voices of community members at all steps, from project inception to implementation.

Virtual Graduate Open House

I am Dr. Tiyacca Simms-Jones, the Associate Director of Graduate Academic Operations for the VCU Department of Psychology. In my role, I assist students interested in obtaining their graduate degrees in psychology. We have several programs that your students may be interested in: · Clinical Psychology (concentrations in behavioral medicine and child/adolescent clinical psychology.) · Counseling Psychology · Health Psychology · Developmental Psychology · Social Psychology Accepted students will work with nationally recognized faculty and receive four years of funding, including a stipend and tuition. Students in our program have the unique opportunity to work in the greater Richmond area with local school systems and organizations to effect change from the very beginning of their time in the program. VCU's Fall Virtual Open house will be Thursday, October 26, 5:30-6:30pm where your students can learn more about our graduate programs. Students who register AND attend the open house will have their Application Fee Waived! Registration Link: http://bit.ly/VCUVirtualGradOH23

LACLS Symposium 2023

The panelists will discuss opportunities and challenges facing the Latino community in Kentucky with a focus on education and health. Additionally, they will discuss strategies and initiatives to foster collaboration among organizations, institutions, and individuals who are dedicated to recognizing and promoting the Latino heritage in the Commonwealth.
